New hires and promotions

Katie Duttry has been promoted to staff accountant II in the audit department of Wessel & Co., Johnstown.

Duttry, who joined the audit department in 2016, is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown with a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting.

Jared Black has been promoted to staff accountant II in the audit department at Wessel & Co., Johnstown.

Black, who joined the audit department in 2016, is a graduate of Saint Francis University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Tanner Thomas has been promoted to staff accountant II in the audit department of Wessel & Co., Johnstown.

Thomas, who joined the audit department in 2016, is a graduate of Mount Aloysius College with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting.

Jeff Shaw of Hollidaysburg, has joined HalenHardy LLC, Bellwood, as partner and vice president of sales.

Building on his experience as a sales leader in the work truck and heavy equipment industries, Shaw will be responsible for building the HalenHardy LLC global sales team.

For the past six years, Shaw has served as both the national sales manager and vice president of sales at Curry Supply Co. in Martinsburg.

Dr. James Dewar, board-certified family medicine physician and a Johnstown native, has joined Conemaugh Physician Group — East Hills Primary Care and is now caring for patients of all ages at the new Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center.

For the past 10 years, Dewar has been practicing at UPMC in Pittsburgh, where his duties included serving as executive vice chair of the Department of Family Medicine.

Desiree Piner has joined the Warren A. Gingrich Agency as a life, health and accident agent.

Piner will be the executive sales and service agent, focusing her attention on current and new clients.

Awards and honors

Robert J. Beck of Beck Financial and Wealth Management, Altoona, has been honored as Advisor of the Year by the Atlantic Coast region of principal securities.

Beck also has earned Principal Securities Honor Roll and Top Producing Advisor for 2017 and has been named to the 2017 Court of the Million Dollar Round Table, placing him in the top 1.5 percent advisors world wide.

Shianne Witherow of Clearfield has received a Certificate of Excellence in Care as an intensive care nurse at Cleveland Clinic.

The award was presented by the clinic to Witherow, a 2017 Saint Francis University nursing graduate, after she took her dying young adult patient to be with her sister, who was also in the hospital, so that the sisters could be side by side when the patient was taken off life support.

The award was for going above and beyond to help the family and the patient meet her end-of-life needs.

Course completions and certifications

Kaleb Hammond of

P. Joseph Lehman Inc. Consulting Engineers has been certified as an asbestos building inspector.

Hammond will be licensed to survey remodeling and demolition projects to determine if asbestos containing materials are present in the confines of these projects.

He is now able to perform asbestos surveys to assist schools in complying with regulations established in the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act.
