Head Start program recognized

Blair County Head Start, a program of Child Advocates of Blair County, announced that the Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning has awarded each of the program’s 12 sites a STAR 4 designation, the highest level achievable in Keystone Stars, Pennsylvania’s Quality Rating & Improvement System.

Keystone STARS is a quality rating system that promotes quality improvement in early learning and development programs and school-age child care.

Blair County Head Start provides preschool services to 514 eligible children throughout the county.

Sheetz offering free coffee

Sheetz Inc. will again celebrate the holidays by offering customers a free cup of coffee from noon until midnight on Christmas Day and from 4 p.m. New Year’s Eve until 4 p.m. New Year’s Day.

Guests can walk into any one of Sheetz’s 564 stores in Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and North Carolina and receive a free cup of coffee.

“Offering free coffee during the holidays is our way of saying thank you to the communities we serve,” said Ryan Sheetz, assistant vice president of brand strategies in a statement. “Sheetz has been giving away free coffee on Christmas Day and New Year’s for more than 20 years. It is the perfect opportunity for us to show our appreciation to our loyal customers and to celebrate the holidays with them.”
