Dollar General now open

Dollar General’s newest store at 606 South Temple Lane is now open.

Dollar General will celebrate the store’s official grand opening at 8 a.m Saturday with free prizes and special deals.

The first 50 adult shoppers at the store will receive a $10 Dollar General gift card and the first 200 shoppers will receive a Dollar General tote bag with complimentary product samples, among other giveaways.

The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based chain of variety stores operates 14,321 stores in

44 states excluding Alaska, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Washington, and Wyoming. Dollar General currently operates 640 stores in Pennsylvania.

Area Sheetz to sell beer

Sheetz Inc. has received Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board approval to sell beer at its store at 1400 Logan Ave. pending a final inspection.

Construction of a dining room, which will seat 30, is under construction and is expected to be completed during the first or second week of January, said Nick Ruffner, Sheetz spokesman.

The inspection will be conducted following completion of the project with beer sales expected to start two or three weeks after the inspection, Ruffner said.

Approximately 40 Sheetz locations in Pennsylvania are now selling beer, Ruffner said.
