Areas of focus: Women and children are our focus through educational, civic and social outreach programs organized under 5 departments: arts, conservation/community improvement, education, home life, public outreach and international outreach. Our goal is to enhance the lives of others through volunteer service.
What services or programs does your non-profit provide?
Annual grants and scholarships — Adult woman and student scholarships — arts, academic and community service. Grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations in Blair County.
Domestic abuse awareness and prevention — Women and children living in local shelters are supported through numerous programs.
Food drive — This annual club event is held in November at Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club, Altoona, and supports local families and nonprofits. Eleven organizations were supported this year.
Children’s holiday outreach — Gifts of new clothing are provided for children in the Hollidaysburg Area School District whose families are in need.
Community improvement projects — Kids Kingdom Play Park, Tot Park at Canal Basin and others.
Upcoming events: A major fundraiser, the St. Patrick’s Day dinner dance, will be held on March 3. All proceeds benefit our grant and scholarship program.
Additional Information: The club is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and GFWC Pennsylvania. Membership is open to women in the Hollidaysburg/Blair County area.
