Delinquency rate declines

The percentage of mortgages in Altoona delinquent by at least 30 days (including those in foreclosure) in August fell to 5.9 percent compared with 6.4 percent in August 2016, representing a decrease of 0.5 percentage points, according to CoreLogic, a global property information, analytics and data-enabled solutions provider.

Altoona mortgages in serious delinquency (90-plus days past due) totaled 2.2 percent in August compared with 2.4 percent in August 2016. The foreclosure inventory rate for this August was 0.8 percent compared with 0.8 percent a year earlier.

Nationally, 4.6 percent of mortgages were in some stage of delinquency (30 days or more past due including those in foreclosure) in August. This represents a 0.6 percentage point year-over-year decline in the overall delinquency rate compared with August 2016 when it was 5.2 percent.

McCartney’s sets open house

McCartney’s and Steelcase will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at McCartney’s showroom, 819 Howard Ave.

Food safety training set

Penn State Cooperative Extension will be offering a ServSafe Food Safety Certification Training course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 27 and from 9 a.m. to noon with the certification exam at 1 p.m. Dec. 4 at the Sheetz Center for Entrepreneurial Excellence, 1309 11th Ave.

Cost for the two-day certification course is $185.

Elaine Smith, Penn State Extension educator, will be the instructor.
