New hires and promotions
Emery Mock, a physician assistant, has joined Western Pennsylvania Orthopedics and Sports Medicine and will now be seeing patients at the office and during rounds at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center.
In his role with Western Pennsylvania Orthopedic and Sports Medicine, Mock will help treat patients in the office providing care for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions including osteoarthritis, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains. He will be part of the team caring for inpatient orthopedic patients at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center and will also assist with surgical cases in the operating room.
Maureen M. Gathagan has been named as a director of both Riverview Financial Corp. and Riverview Bank.
Gathagan, a native of Tyrone, is a veteran business professional with more than 20 years of diverse management experience in various industries, including pharmaceuticals, fast-food restaurants and financial services.
Awards and honors
Dr. Nicole L. Temofonte of Pittsburgh, formerly of Altoona, was recently honored as teacher of the year by Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, the largest medical school in the United States.
Temofonte, who is board certified in endocrin-ology and named as a fellow, is also board certified in internal medicine and primary care.
She is a graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School and the daughter of Alan and Elaine Temofonte of Altoona.
Conferences and seminars
Tulay Girard, professor of marketing at Penn State Altoona, recently presented her co-authored paper “Examining Private-Label Brand Equity Dimensions: Do Brand Equity Dimensions Differ for Different PLBs of the Same Store?” at the 2017 Atlantic Marketing Association Conference in Williamsburg, Va.
