Sheetz donates to relief efforts

Sheetz Inc. announced its donation of $150,000 to hurricane disaster relief efforts.

Funds donated by Sheetz customers were accompanied by a lump sum donation by Sheetz. A portion of the match donation will be designated for hurricane relief in Puerto Rico.

Sheetz’s 560 stores across Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia accepted donations at checkout for the victims of the recent hurricanes from Sept. 7 through Sept. 30.

One hundred percent of all funds collected have been donated to the American Red Cross. Donations will provide financial assistance, meals, shelter, basic supplies such as diapers and clothing and more to aid in the recovery process.

Educational seminars set

Health by Choice Education and Research has scheduled seminars focused on combining conventional medicine with therapies that fall under “alternative,” natural methods and personal coaching systems.

The seminars allow patients to partner with caregivers and coaches in therapeutic and educational environments, which also empowers them to take charge of their health in ways that ensure long-term success, the company said in a news release.

Altoona sessions will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m every third Thursday at the Sheetz Entrepreneurial Center on 11th Avenue.

Sessions are open to the public for a minimum $10 donation. Attendees will receive a binder with action items they can follow in their lives each month (based on that month’s topic) and the seminars will act as a monthly check-in to keep regular attendees on their personal path to wellness, the release stated.
