Business group to meet

The Downtown Altoona Business Community will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Brush Mountain Running and Outdoors Inc., 3509 Sixth Ave.

Owner Jennifer Soisson will use her shop as a case study to demonstrate how to “Tell Your Business Story Via Merchandising Design.”

Saint Francis group honored

Saint Francis University’s Center for Watershed Research and Service was recently announced as a winner of the 2017 Western Pennsylvania Environmental Award from the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and will receive $5,000.

The Center for Watershed Research and Service was formed in 2012 by a group of Saint Francis University faculty and staff interested in watershed protection.

The center coordinates student research projects, volunteer events, technical assistance projects and service projects integrated into classes to help protect or restore waterways in the region.

YTI hosting open house

YTI Career Institute Altoona will hold an open house for prospective students from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at 2900 Fairway Drive.

Individuals can participate in hands-on program demonstrations and learn more about financial aid, job placement assistance and more.

YTI Career Institute’s Altoona Campus offers programs in health care, computers, business and criminal justice.
