Name of nonprofit: Day One of Greater Altoona

Years in existence: Formerly known as New Day of Altoona, we have been serving Blair County since 1989. In 2014, after a restructuring that would close New Day’s Altoona office, in an effort to keep the ministry going, we became independent and were renamed Day One of Greater Altoona.

Total number of employees: We employ two administrative personnel and five professional counselors. Our counselors are Masters-level with at least 10 years of experience. Counselors work with clients on many issues, including: marriage and family, parenting skills, healing from abuse, self-destruction, depression, grief, anger, stress and spiritual growth

Populations served: Blair County, Pennsylvania

Areas of focus: Our Christian faith motivates us to see the God-given worth and beauty of each individual. We seek to help individuals grow and reach their potential emotionally, relationally, practically, and spiritually.

What services or programs does your nonprofit provide?: Counseling, educational, community outreach, youth camp and Christmas box of hope

Upcoming events: We offer two no-cost summer camps for youth, to include games, crafts, swimming, activities outdoors and Bible study. The camps are a Kid’s Day Camp (first through sixth grade) July 24-25 and a teen overnight camp (seventh through 12th grades) July 5-8
