Dixon Tool & Die receives positive review

TYRONE — Blair County Planning Commission members Thursday gave a positive review to an expansion project for Dixon Tool & Die Inc.

The company plans to construct an 11,537-square-foot building expansion to its existing building on Adams Avenue for the purpose of relocating portions of its operation and allowing for future growth.

“We are out of room,” said Bill Dixon, company president.

Dixon said he hopes to begin construction of the estimated $850,000 project once he gets approval from Tyrone Borough Council.

Dixon said he expects to add two jobs upon completion of the project and possibly more down the road.

Parking at the site will consist of 23 paved parking spaces, including a single Americans with Disabilities Act accessible space, which will satisfy the 20 required parking spaces for the site, said Jamie L. Klink, community planner.

The developer should ensure landscaping at the site will conform to Tyrone Borough’s landscaping requirements. However, various landscaping currently exists at the site and would likely satisfy these requirements, Klink said.

Klink also said the site is located within the Bald Eagle Creek watershed, and in order to mitigate negative impacts on this watershed, the developer should ensure compliance with Tyrone Borough’s stormwater management requirements pertaining to commercial/industrial development.
