Women charged for meth lab
Riddlesburg – State police have charged two Bedford County women with operating a methamphetamine lab in Broad Top Township, according to a news release issued Thursday.
State police at Bedford said they charged Starla R. Knechtel, 31, and Lisa M. Pounds, 35, both of Riddlesburg, with a series of crimes May 9 after they were found to be operating a lab and endangering a 12-year-old in the area. The alleged lab was discovered in the 200 block of Newtown Road near Riddlesburg.
Both face felony charges including possession of red phosphorous with intent to manufacture meth, operating a meth lab and risking catastrophe. Knetchel and Pounds face six felony charges each in addition to several lesser charges, according to court documents.
The pair were arraigned May 10 before Magisterial District Judge Tonya Osman and held in Bedford County jail in lieu of $200,000 bail. They are set for preliminary hearings Wednesday.
