Rutter’s store under construction
DUNCANSVILLE — Work is under way for a new convenience store in Allegheny Township.
York-based Rutter’s Farm Stores plans to open a 7,843-square-foot store on a 5.9-acre parcel across Plank Road from the area housing Hoss’s Steak and Sea House and Marzoni’s in mid-summer, said Derek Gaskins, chief customer officer.
The Rutter’s store will sell gasoline, and the site will have two, bidirectional access points — one along Plank Road and one along Jennifer Lane.
Rutter’s also hopes to sell beer at its Blair County location.
A public hearing has been set for 5 p.m. May 4 at the Allegheny Township Municipal Building at which time the board of supervisors will consider Rutter’s application for approval of a proposed intermunicipal transfer of a restaurant liquor license.
Once a restaurant liquor license is obtained, store owners can apply for a wine expanded permit, which allows wine-to-go sales.
Rutter’s presently sells beer at eight of its 66 locations throughout central Pennsylvania, Gaskins said. The Allegheny Township site will be its westernmost store.
