Chamber sets waste event

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce’s Coalition on Sustainability will hold its third annual “Zero Waste” event from noon to 1 p.m. April 7 at the Fiore “Blue Building,” located at the rear of 5508 Sixth Ave.

The event will begin with a buffet luncheon, followed by a presentation by Penn State Altoona’s ENACTUS students highlighting a few of its social entrepreneurship projects.

The cost to attend the event is $10 per person, which includes the luncheon. To register, contact the chamber at 943-8151 or register online.

Nursing program recognized

JOHNSTOWN — Conemaugh’s School of Nursing Program has been ranked as the 10th best registered nursing program in Pennsylvania by RegisteredNursing.org.

RegisteredNursing.org, a research website dedicated to guiding future nurses in their career paths, surveyed 76 Pennsylvania schools offering a nursing degree. The ranking process involves averaging a program’s NCLEX-RN pass rates from the past five years, using the most recent year’s exam data. Other factors included the number of students taking the exam and the amount of exam data available.

Conemaugh’s School of Nursing is a two-year accredited program approved by the Pennsylvania Board of Nursing.

Safety program planned

The Blair County Chamber of Commerce Safety Committee will present a workshop from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. April 5 at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House in Duncansville.

The workshop, Accident Investigation 360 Degrees, will examine accident investigation procedures with safety experts and trainers. Topics will include best practice investigations and analysis, investigation basics including how to conduct an investigation, who should be involved and best ways to document your findings.

Presenters will include Caleb Moses of Curry Supply Cos., Brian Bracken of NPC Inc. and Barbara Hoover Smith of Teeter Group.

The cost to attend the safety program is $20 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers. The cost includes a breakfast buffet.
