Businesses enter hall of fame
Five businesses officially joined the Blair County Chamber of Commerce Business Hall of Fame on Monday night at the Blair County Convention Center. Members of the Class of 2016 include Manpower Inc. of Altoona, Park Furniture, Stiffler McGraw and the Teeter Group.
A former business, The Little Shop/Country Mouse, was inducted into the heritage category.
The hall of fame, established in 1990, now includes 128 firms. Hall of fame recipients must have a history of at least 25 years and a lasting effect on commerce generated in Blair County. The heritage category recognizes businesses with a lengthy tenure in Blair County but are no longer in operation.
Recipients of the General Awards of Distinction include:
– Excellence in Small Business Award: Lawn Doctor of Altoona/Johnstown/Bedford, Mountain View Eye Associates and Professionals Auto Body.
– Young Emerging Business Award: Bella Lucia Inc. and KMS Interior Design & Home Staging LLC.
– Safety Excellence Award: Blair Companies and Veeder-Root.
– Technology Award: North American Communications.
– Committee Choice Award: Dreams Go On.
