Airport authority OKs lease agreement
The Blair County Airport Authority agreed Monday to approve documents outlining lease arrangements with its new fixed-based operator, at the request of the FBO’s banking institution.
The requirements by Ameriserv Financial Bank do not change the arrangements the authority agreed to in July when voting to permit IG Flight Services LLC to take over FBO’s responsibilities, authority solicitor David Pertile said Monday.
But those documents and a related document, Pertile said, recognize the authority as the owner of the grounds on which IG Flight Services LLC operates a business that includes aircraft fuel sales and aircraft maintenance.
“It also says we (the airport authority) won’t stand between the bank and IG Flight Services if there is a default,” Pertile said.
IG Flight Services President Vince Mojta of Hesston was at Monday’s meeting, along with Seth Smith, vice president of Ameriserv Financial.
Smith said Pertile’s summary of the documents was accurate.
Mojta, who told the authority in July that he remains interested in initiatives to build a successful business, said Monday that the plans remain intact. In July, Mojta said the company wants to build on efforts initiated by DeGol Jet Center II, the holder of the FBO lease since Jan. 1, 2011.
Pertile also indicated that his review of the documents also identifies the bank as the responsible party in case its borrower fails to meet its financial obligations.
“The bank would have to come in and take the place of the tenant … or find a way to meet the tenant’s obligations,” Pertile said.
