Spa brings new services to area
DUNCANSVILLE – When Joyelle Scavone opened her business on Route 764 in 2011, she hoped to one day expand into offering spa services.
Her dream came true in mid-June when she added those services and changed the name of her business to Aqua Salon and Spa.
“Our focus is wellness and tranquility. When you walk in, you get a sense of calm,” said Scavone, who is a master hair stylist and makeup artist. “We focus on wellness as well as relaxation.”
Aqua Salon and Spa offers massages, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs and wraps and spray tans.
Scavone brought Evolv heated sunless airbrush tanning to the Altoona area.
“It is an art form that we were trained in. The machine heats and blows hot air. We apply it ourselves. We mix up the solution and put it into the gun,” Scavone said. “We heat the solution before it is sprayed so it isn’t cold on your skin. It also drys quick because a second spray of warm air is sprayed simultaneously. It creates a warm, airbrush application that you can barely feel being applied.”
Aqua Salon and Spa clients can change into robes, shower and stay all day in the robe.
“We have a sauna. We recommend they use it prior to body treatments,” Scavone said. “We are trying our best to give clients a full spa experience. Our main focus is always customer satisfaction. We want to give everyone the ultimate experience.”
Evolv officials are pleased to see their system introduced into the Altoona area.
“We believe we have a wonderful product. It not only gives a tan, but it gives a warming sensation as the spray goes on. One of the major complaints people have is they are so cold,” said Mike Concannon, Evolv vice president of marketing.
Since adding the spa, Scavone has hired a massage therapist, nail technician and spa manager and is hoping to ad another hair stylist.
Aqua Salon and Spa doesn’t have regular hours. All services are available by appointment only, Tuesday through Saturday, by calling 696-7820.
