Chamber graduates 22 Leadership Blair County members

Graduation ceremonies were held Thursday at The Casino at Lakemont Park for the Leadership Blair County Class of 2014.

This year’s 22 members bring the total number of people who have completed the program sponsored by the Blair County Chamber of Commerce to 451. This is the 20th annual class.

The program is designed to develop and enhance community leadership by preparing individuals from diverse backgrounds to assume more active roles in addressing communities’ needs.

Each class selects a community service project as part of the program. This year’s class project is at the Domestic Abuse Shelter managed by Family Services Inc.

Class members are currently in the process of painting and remodeling, including installing a new laundry room and donating new furniture. They also are planning to create a safe and comforting outdoor area for families to enjoy.

If possible, their final plan is to establish a financial fund to cover further needs of the shelter.
