Sheetz earns LEED gold accreditation

CLAYSBURG – Sheetz Inc. will accept the gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED program for the environmentally responsible design of its Sheetz Center for Shwellness this morning, the company stated in a release.

The event will begin an Earth Day celebration for the company’s employees.

“Meeting the gold level of LEED accreditation is an accomplishment we’re quite proud of at Sheetz,” President and CEO Joe Sheetz said in a statement. “Our in-house architects, designers and builders worked with talented partners to develop the plans and construct the facility to satisfy the guidelines of

this program.”

The center became Blair County’s first LEED Certified building, the release stated, meaning it meets certain environmentally friendly criteria in its design, construction and operation.

The annual Earth Day celebration, exclusively for Sheetz employees, will continue until 4:30 p.m.
