Gov. to attend opening of The Meadows store

DUNCANSVILLE – Gov. Tom Corbett will be among a group of elected officials that will be in attendance on Monday as J.V. Meadows & Sons opens its new Duncansville location on the site of The Meadows Original Frozen Custard, which opened its doors in 1950.

“Our new building will be just slightly larger than the previous one,” said Joe Meadows, one of the owners, in a statement. “Our real interest in doing this project was to expand the parking area and add a drive-thru. We’re excited to be able to feature our products in an environment that is more accessible and user-friendly.”

Although the official grand opening will be at 11 a.m. Monday, the company will hold a soft launch over the weekend, just to make sure that all the issues are worked out.

“We’re about a month behind where we figured to be,” Meadows said. “The weather created some challenges that we have dealt with and will probably be addressing for the next few weeks.”
