Edward Jones ranked No. 4 in Fortune in 2014
Michael Harris said he truly understands why Edward Jones always has a high spot on the best companies to work for list.
“I was a client first. I understand our culture and what it felt like to be a client,” Harris said. “Dick [Logan] was my adviser. The service he provided was more than I was getting anywhere else.”
Harris has worked with Logan for nearly two years in Edward Jones Altoona office.
Financial services firm Edward Jones ranked No. 4 on Fortune magazine’s “100 Best Companies to Work For 2014” list in its 15th appearance on the prestigious list. Edward Jones was the highest ranking financial-services firm.
Edward Jones’ 15 Fortune rankings also include top 10 finishes for 11 years, top 5 rankings for six years and consecutive No. 1 rankings in 2002 and 2003. Last year, the firm ranked No. 8 overall.
In the Fortune survey of associates, 96 percent of Edward Jones associates said they are proud to work for the company.
The survey also revealed that 96 percent of Edward Jones respondents said firm leadership is honest and ethical; 93 percent said they are offered the training and development they need; and 95 percent feel pride in what they accomplish.
Local advisers are proud of the recognition.
“It is well deserved recognition, and I am very proud of the company,” said Dwight L. Kennedy of Duncansville, an adviser for 12 years and a partner for seven years. “Our ethics are very high. We can run our business as we like as long as we are legal, ethical and profitable.”
J.T. Tidd of Hollidaysburg, an adviser for eleven years, said there is nothing unusual about the recognition.
“We are completely client-centric. That is at the core of our culture. We poll clients every single week, and they score us on client satisfaction dimensions,” Tidd said. “Instead of being compensated on how much we sell, our compensation is based on the report card our clients give us.”
Logan, who has been an adviser for seven years, said he is proud to be a part of the Edward Jones team.
“The company is very much employee oriented. We feel fortunate we are part of the company. It is a firm that puts the clients first,” Logan said. “It is a firm where you can always get the help you need simply by asking for it. We help one another out rather than compete against one another. We can call any Edward Jones adviser across the country and they will help us out. It is truly a big team.”
