Juniata student attends Nobel Peace Prize Forum

Madalyn E. Miller, the daughter of Jonelle Parker, attended the Nobel Peace Prize Forum at Augsburg College in Minneapolis on Sept 15 and 16.

The forum brought together students and community peacebuilders with Nobel Laureates and distinguished speakers to share knowledge and strategies for peace.

Miller is a junior studying human resource management with a secondary emphasis in peace and conflict studies at Juniata College, and is a graduate of Tyrone Area High School.

Juniata’s Baker Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies supported Miller’s trip to the conference, which three other Juniata students and two faculty members attended.

Attendees heard from The Tunisian National Dialogue Quartet, the 2015 Nobel Peace Prize winners. Other notable speakers included Gabrielle Giffords and Capt. Mark Kelly, who spoke about gun control.

The opportunity to attend the forum has impacted the students’ views on classroom studies, potential careers and the personal search for peace in the world.
