IUP presents Distinguished Alumni Awards

INDIANA, Pa. — Seven graduates of Indiana University of Pennsylvania have been selected for the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award for their career achievements and service.

Among the recipients was Ron Donoughe of Pitts-burgh, formerly of Loretto. Donoughe is a 1980 graduate of IUP, who specializes in regional landscapes, murals and commissions.

Last year, the John Heinz History Center acquired his paintings of 90 Pittsburgh neighborhoods for permanent exhibition.

His 80 Indiana County works are a focal point of the IUP Performing Arts Center, and his murals and historical timeline are hung at the Cambria County Court House in Ebensburg.

Over the past 34 years, the IUP Alumni Asso-ciation has honored only 358 out of its 140,000 alumni with the Distin-guished Alumni Award.

This award is the highest award given by the IUP Alumni Association to university alumni.

The award is presented to alumni who have achieved distinction in their chosen fields or who have demonstrated loyal and active service to their alma mater.
