BBQ aids Shriners Hospitals

Courtesy photos The 40th annual chicken barbecue of the Jaffa Calliope Clowns and the Knights of Columbus was held June 2 in Hollidaysburg. To date, with these two organizations working together, they have donated more than $170,000 to the Shriners Hospitals. Since starting this fundraiser in 1980, there are still several members from both organizations that have been present since the beginning. Above, volunteers are shown on the day of the barbecue. Below, the $4,000 check presentation took place at Shriners Hospitals for Children’s annual board meeting/open house. Pictured with the Knights of Columbus Star of the Sea Council No. 4245 Hollidaysburg members is Jon Swartz (holding the check on the left), chairman of the board of governors, Shriners Hospitals for Children.
