Hollidaysburg Class of 1950 to meet

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The class members of the Hollidaysburg High School Class of 1950 holds monthly luncheon meetings at 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at The Dream Restaurant.

Spouses are also welcome to attend.

Quaint Corner plans summer event

The Quaint Corner Children’s Museum will host hands-on science fun with the Saint Francis University ROCK Program with two events this summer.

“Exploring Molecules in the Gas Phase” will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, and “Silly Putty and Slime” will be held July 5.

The program is included with admission of $4 per person. It is free for members. Come and go between the two hours of repeated activities. The museum will be open to explore from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is at 2000 Union Ave. Altoona.

SAMA Loretto plans Family Fun Day

LORETTO — The Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art in Loretto will host a Family Fun Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Thursday.

The day will include crafts, snacks and a movie based on the museum’s Gala 2019 theme, “Arabian Nights.”

SAMA Bedford plans summer camps

BEDFORD — It’s Summer Camp time at the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art int Bedford.

The first camp for the summer will let kids “Tell Me A Story” while learning printmaking with local artist Linda Callaway. This three-day camp for ages 6 and older will focus on creating a story, developing prints to illustrate the story and then using simple bookbinding techniques to put them all together.

The camp will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. June 24, 26 and 28. All supplies are included in the workshop fee.

The cost is $95 for nonmembers and $85 for members. If kids are registered by June 17, the museum will offer a $10 discount on each registration. See this event on the SAMA Bedford Facebook page or call 589-3020 for more information.

Volunteers needed for historic tours

HOLLIDAYSBURG — Local historical program development volunteers are needed for historic tours.

The Community Coalition includes the Blair County Genealogical Society, Hollidaysburg Area Community Partnership, Hollidaysburg Public Library and the Hollidaysburg Women’s Club.

Specific skills and talents required include research, writing and storytelling. Positions available include researchers, writers and tour guides.

Beekeepers to meet Saturday

EBENSBURG — The Cambria-Clearfield-Blair Bee-keepers will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the residence of Bernie and Anne Svidergol, 2654 Ben Franklin Highway.

The presentation is on “Queen Improvement Pro-gram.” Virgin queens will be $10 each. Take protective clothing if going to the bee yard.
