Grocery sale Friday to benefit Scouts

A grocery fundraiser sale to benefit Boy Scout Troop 15 at Bethany Lutheran Church will be held

at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the church, 200 Third Ave., Altoona.

Irish Mike and New Dawn Enterprises will have a full load of both frozen and dry grocery products, including meat, food, paper products, cleaning products and more.

Payment terms include cash, check and major credit cards.

Sisters to host golf scramble June 7

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Sisters of the Carmelite Community of Word’s 15th annual golf scramble will be held June 7 at Scotch Valley Country Club with a shotgun start at noon.

Registration is $115 per golfer or $425 per foursome if registered by May 22.

Registration after May 22 will be $125 per golfer or $475 per foursome. Individual golfers are welcome.

The fee includes golf, lunch, course refreshments, prizes, a casual dinner at 4:30 p.m. and a live auction at 5 p.m.

The cost to attend the dinner only is $20 per person.

The registration deadline is May 31.

Society to host craft session May 25

EVERETT — The Bloody Run Historical Society will host a free instructional session on how to draw and prepare a 9-inch-by-9-inch piece of wood to create a mini barn quilt pattern, popular in barn and home decorating.

The session will be held at 10 a.m. May 25 at the Railroad and Community Museum on Fifth Street, off North Spring Street (Route 26).

Wood will be provided; participants must take a good pencil, eraser and ruler. Painting will be done at home with instructions provided at class.

HBCER to present workshop Sunday

NEW ENTERPRISE — Health By Choice Education & Research will present an “Angel Healing Work-shop” from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at 1712 Lafayette Road.

Participants will be assisted by Reiki master and certified hypnotherapist, Teresa Martell.

VFW plans Election Day Soup Sale

DUNCANSVILLE — Duncansville Veterans of Foreisn Wars Post 8724 Auxiliary will hold an Election Day soup Sale at noon May 21 at the post on Newry Lane.

The auxiliary will be selling a quart of homemade soup and a loaf of freshly baked bread for $8.

The public is welcome.

Health, welfare council to meet

The Blair County Health and Welfare Council will meet from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Friday at The Arc of Blair County.

This will be the annual year-end meeting of the council so there will be no guest speaker. The budget and the officers will be reviewed for the next year. Checks will also be presented to this year’s grant recipients.

Additionally, the council is in search of officers to serve for the next year. If you are interested in serving as an officer, please attend this meeting.

The Blair County Health and Welfare Council provides education and information to the public on health and human service needs, services, and resources. Everyone is welcome to attend the meeting.
