Tyrone library to host book sale
TYRONE — The Friends of the Tyrone-Snyder Pub-lic Library will hold a used book sale April 25 to 30.
All sales on April 25 (noon to 7 p.m.) and April 26 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) are for Friends of the Library only.
The sale will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27, noon to 5 p.m. April 29 and noon to 7 p.m. April 30, which is $5-a-bag day.
The cost is $1 for hardbacks and trade paperbacks and 50 cents for paperbacks. The sale includes fiction, non-fiction, children, teen and audio visual.
The library is at 1000 Pennsylvania Ave. For more information, call 684-1133.
Civil War descendants to meet
BELLWOOD — The Descendants of Civil War Veterans will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Bellwood-Antis Public Library.
Dee Blazier will speak on the “Life and Times of Elizabeth Van Lew.” The public is invited to attend.
Dysphonia, dystonia group to meet
The Altoona Dysphonia & Dystonia Support Group will hold a luncheon meeting at 2 p.m. April 28 at Hoss’s Steak & Sea House, 621 Valley View Blvd., Altoona.

Sessions to focus on mental health
“Some Nights — Some Days: Mental Health & Suicide Awareness Sessions” will be presented by Vietnam Veterans of America, Laurel Highlands Chapter 364.
The sessions will be held from 2 to 3:30 and 6:30 to
8 p.m. April 30 at Richland Fire Hall, 1321 Scalp Ave., Johnstown; 2 to 3:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 1 at Crossroads Church, 5564 Business Route 220, Bedford; 2 to 3:30 and 6:30 to 8 p.m. May 2 at Somerset Country Club, 416 Plank Road, Somerset.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be served.
Preregistration is appreciated but not required. To preregister, email your name, session attending, and number of people attending to vva364.reg@gmail.com by April 29.
The presenters will be Thomas Hall, national chair of PTSD/Substance Abuse Committee of Vietnam Veterans of America, and Maureen Elias, VVA Veterans Health Council assistant director.
