Duncansville Fire Company celebrates 125th year

The Duncansville Fire Company held its annual Company Banquet at the Duncansville Community Center on Feb. 2.

It was the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Fire Service in Duncansville, which began in 1894 with the establishment of the Duncansville Hose Company No. 1 and Excelsior Hose Company (2). A third company, the Duncansville Hook and Ladder was added in 1897 but folded by 1917.

The two companies merged in 1926 to form Duncansville Fire Company No.1.

The keynote speaker was County Coroner Patty Ross. Ross is an alum of the Duncansville Fire Company and Fire Company Ambulance Association.

Community Service Awards were presented to the Riley Small Engine Shop and Alpha Power Sports for support of the Fire Company over the past year.

Line officers for 2019 are Craig Hazlett, chief; Mike Gonsman, deputy chief; Jeff Imler and Pete Novosat, asst. chiefs; Mike Dyson, captain; Shawn Lloyd and Zach Hazlett, lieutenants.

Administrative officers for 2019 are James Fox, president; Josh Flaugh, vice president; Bren Gable, secretary; Brooke Giselman, asst. secretary; Ivan Neely, financial secretary; Holly McGonigle, treasurer; Jennifer Herr, asst. treasurer ; and Jessica Thomas, Shannon Imler and Kirk Hammel, trustees.

Representatives of Cresson, Freedom Township and Allegheny Township Fire companies also attended as guests.
