AASD Foundation creates Jurewicz fund
The Carol Jurewicz Fund has been established as part of the Altoona Area School District Foundation.
The $20,000 Named Endowment was established by Anthony Jurewicz to honor Carol (Scherden) Jurewicz and to provide ongoing funding for opportunities to enrich the learning experiences of the district’s students.
Carol, a 1960 graduate of Altoona High School, has a professional background as a medical technician. “Carol has been a loving wife and has raised three outstanding and accomplished children,” said Tony Jurewicz. “This endowment will honor Carol in perpetuity by enhancing the educational opportunities and experiences for Altoona Area students.”
This is the 34th Named Endowment Fund established since the program was initiated in 1999. It enables donors to make contributions that are invested and grown until a targeted maturity in 10 years. Then annual earnings are used to support innovative classroom projects that impact all children at the Altoona Area School District.
The AASD Foundation was established in 1987 to enhance educational opportunities for all students, K-12, and to encourage excellence and innovation in the classroom.
