Woodland celebrating 105th birthday Saturday

Nedy Mae Settles-Woodland

Nedy Mae Settles-Woodland will be turning 105 years old Saturday. She was born in 1914 in Bennettsville, South Carolina to the Rev. Charles Settles and his wife Carrie Mae Settles. The family relocated to Claysburg when Nedy was an infant. She is the only survivor of nine children.

Nedy was raised a Christian as a child and through adulthood, attending Mount Moriah Church of God in Christ, founded by her father. As the years passed the family relocated to Trenton, New Jersey where she currently resides.

A celebration in Nedy’s honor will be held by her family and friends at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Royal Health Gate Nursing Center, 1314 Brunswick Ave., Tranton, NJ 08638.
