Duncansville plans community events
DUNCANSVILLE — The Borough of Duncansville announces two community events for the winter months.
n The borough’s annual Children’s Christmas Party will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Community Center on 14th Street. All borough children, ages 12 and younger, are invited to attend but, registration is required. The children will enjoy activities, games, food and a visit from Santa Claus. To register, call Paula at 695-9548 by 4:30 p.m. Friday.
n The annual Cabin Fever Dance sponsored by the Community Days Committee will be held on Jan. 19. The dance includes an all-you-can-eat fried chicken and meatballs buffet with salads, desserts, beverages and games starting at 6 p.m. Dancing to DJ “Davey B” will follow from 7 to 10 p.m. The dance will be held at the Community Center with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 per person and can be purchased at the borough office on Third Avenue. No tickets will be sold after Jan. 15. For more information or to order tickets, call 695-9548.
Support group cancels Dec. meeting
The Altoona Area Lyme Disease Support Group will not meet in December.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at St. Rose of Lima Church Social Hall, 5519 Sixth Ave.
The support group is the Altoona Region of the PA Lyme Resource Network (www.palyme.org).
Meetings are free and open to the public.

Dance groups to stage ‘Nutcracker’
Two local groups have announced performances of “The Nutcracker.”
n Altoona Dance Theatre Company will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Jaffa Shrine Center, Altoona. The doors will open at 6 p.m. Tickets at the door are $17, and advance tickets are $14.
n The Huntingdon Dance Company will perform at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 and 15 in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts at Juniata College. Tickets are $10 per person and are available at the door or by calling 506-8243.
