Speakers will top Sisterhood Series Luncheons

Inspirational topics and outstanding speakers top the 2018-19 Season of the Blair County United Sisterhood Series Luncheons.

Started in October 2017, the Sisterhood Series was designed to help people of all ages learn from each other’s experiences.

“We know that sometimes, we can feel overwhelmed by life, and we begin to feel overburdened,” said Sue Griep, founder. “We wanted to offer luncheons that address issues that speak to us all, where we can walk away at midday feeling like we are not alone in this journey, and we feel more energized and passionate about life having hearing the message.”

The luncheon lineup includes:

Sept. 20 — Senior Judge Jolene Kopriva will speak on “Inside Out: Leadership.”

Oct. 4 — Penn State Men’s Basketball Coach Pat Chambers will speak on the “The Power of Resilency.”

Nov. 5 — “Shark Tank” Entrepreneur Lani Lazzari will speak on “Be The Change You Want To See In The World.”

Feb. 21 — Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist Michelle Duncan will speak on “Push Yourself Beyond Your Limits.”

April 4 — “The Voice” and “Biggest Loser” contestant Erin Willett will speak on “Let Your Life Be An Anthem of Hope.”

All luncheons are $10 and run from noon to 1:30 p.m. at The Casino at Lakemont Park.

“Last year, we brought together students from eight different schools, along with dozens of local organizations to hear these inspirational messages,” Griep said.

“Everyone of every age can benefit, whether it’s from the message or the networking opportunities. There’s much to be said for receiving positive, inspiring, motivational messages. It’s something we all need. “

Partners Include Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, Griffith Family Foundation/Side-line Cancer, The Victim/Witness Program of Blair County and Tyrone Events and Promotions.
