Girl Scout to build grotto as Gold Award project
Julia Cacciotti is a Girl Scout Ambassador from Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania Council working toward earning her Girl Scout Gold Award.
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouts, earned by completing projects that promote community service, personal growth, positive values and leadership skills. The last step in earning the Girl Scout Gold Award is a community project of at least 80 hours that addresses the root cause of an issue that Julia is passionate about and meets a need in her community.
For her project, she will be building a grotto at Bishop Gulifoyle Catholic High School. The grotto will be visible to the community and will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week as a place for quiet prayer, meditation and reflection. It will provide students, parents and community, the opportunity to lift their minds to God. She would like for it to be an example of taking the Catholic faith into the open and to the public as Pope Francis asks.
