BG to host ‘Live Your Best Life’ lecture

The Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School Alumni Association has announced that Lisa (Lightner) Georgiana will be the featured guest speaker at its annual “Live Your Best Life Lecture Speaker Series,” sponsored by the alumni association.
This year’s event is scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 4 at Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School. The event is open to the public.
Georgiana is the director of the Center for Service & Learning at Saint Francis University, Loretto.
Prior to being named director of the CS&L, she served as an interfaith campus minister at the university from 2013 to 2015.
In 2011 and 2012, she was an adjunct instructor of marketing, teaching social media marketing and integrated marketing and communications courses.
She is the chaplain to the women’s volleyball team, spiritual adviser for Theta Phi Alpha sorority and adviser to student groups: Sideline Cancer; Special Olympics, Best Buddies and F.R.O.G. (Forever Remembering our Golden Angels).
She is the assistant to the university’s faculty athletics representative to the NCAA.
In 2015, she was named adviser of the year by the Student Government Association for her work with the HUGS Alternative Spring Break trips. She has led four international service mission trips for Saint Francis University students to Jamaica and the Bahamas. She also has led a Habitat for Humanity trip to South Carolina.
Prior to working at Saint Francis University, she was president of the Georgiana Group, a strategic marketing and public relations firm that was established in Pittsburgh in 1998.
She has also held marketing and public relations positions at the Society of Automotive Engineers, Carnegie Mellon University and PPG Industries.
She earned her master’s degree in public management from the Heinz School at Carnegie Mellon University in 1995, and earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial management in 1989.
She was a four-year starter for the CMU women’s basketball team and is the fourth all-time leading scorer with 1,346 career points.
In 2012, she was named to CMU’s 25th Anniversary AAU Team, recognizing her contribution to the women’s basketball program. In 2015, she was named one of the top women’s basketball players in the 60-year history of the President’s Athletic Conference.
Active in the community, Georgiana is an executive board member of the Blair County Sports Hall of Fame; vice president of the Bishop Guilfoyle Alumni Association; board member of the Carnegie Mellon Tartan Athletics Club; and is involved with the Greg and Cathy Griffith Family Foundation.
A 1985 graduate of Bishop Guilfoyle, she was a starting guard on the 1984 State Championship Lady Marauders team, which was the first girls basketball team to win a state title in Blair County.
She is a member of St. Michael the Archangel parish where she is a lector and Eucharistic minister. She resides in Hollidaysburg with her husband of 23 years, John, who is a 1983 graduate of BG.
Their son Dominic is a 2018 graduate of BG and a freshman at St. Vincent College, Latrobe, and their daughter, Giana, is a junior at BG.
