Fannie Spinazzola of 2295 Forest Hills Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17112, formerly of 812 Fifth Ave., Altoona, will celebrate her 105th birthday on July 21.
She was born July 21, 1913, in Gallitzin, the daughter of John and Bertha Capara.
She was married to Michael Spinazzola, who is deceased.
Her children are Frank of Houston, Texas, and Dolores Woods of Harrisburg.
She has five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Fannie raised her children in Altoona and remained there until 2014, when she moved to Harrisburg to live with her daughter.
For approximately 20 years prior, Fannie was a volunteer and participant at the Altoona Senior Center, where she did everything from collecting the 50/50 contributions to cleaning tables and making crafts.
Her hobbies included many years of Italian cooking and crocheting hundreds of items including afghans, lap blankets, baby clothes, hats, scarves, slippers, doll clothes, stuffed animals, and Christmas ornaments.
Fannie continues to be an avid sports fan and faithfully watches the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, as well as many other teams including the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies and 76ers, as well as Penn State football.
As a young girl, Fannie liked to play baseball.
Her favorite TV show is “Ellen,” which she watches daily. As a family tradition spanning two decades, Fannie plays UNO, bingo and Pigs with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
