Bikers for Barkers rescheduled for Aug. 11

Charity motorcycle run to benefit CPHS, homeless animals

The 18th annual Bikers for Barkers charity motorcycle run, presented by Roundhouse Harley Davidson, has been rescheduled for Aug. 11.

Originally scheduled for June 3, the ride was postponed due to inclement weather. Local emergency response officials cited unsafe weather conditions for riders throughout the 100-mile route.

The rescheduled event kicks off at 9 a.m. with on-site registration at the parking lot of Roundhouse Harley Davidson, 495 Municipal Drive, Duncansville, with kickstands up at 11 a.m. The run ends at Freedom Township Volunteer Fire Department, 139 Municipal St., East Freedom.

“This is an important fundraising event for CPHS because we receive no funding from state or federal agencies,” said Tamsen Nuss, CPHS board member and event chairwoman.

“Caring for the animals housed at our shelter costs approximately $20 per day per animal so community support is vitally important to our mission. Bikers for Barkers combines an enjoyable day on the back roads of central Pennsylvania with the opportunity to continue to support and care for homeless animals in our area.”

Preregistration for this year’s Bikers for Barkers ride is $20 per person (includes ride, dinner entertainment and event T-shirt) until Aug. 1; after Aug. 1, registration will increase to $25 per person.

Registration forms may be ob-tained at the CPHS, 1837 E. Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602; or downloaded from the Bikers for Barkers Facebook page: Riders may also register at Round-house Harley Davidson on the day of the event.
