Allegheny Portage Railroad National Historic Site, Gallitzin, 886-6150

The Allegheny Portage Railroad and the Forgotten war of the 19th Century, presentation by Park Ranger Nathan Koozer, 2 p.m. Saturay, visitor center theater.

Canoe Creek State Park, 205 Canoe Creek Road, Hollidaysburg, 695-6807

Snowshoeing for Beginners, 10 to 11 a.m. or 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, meet at the Wentz Education Center. Snowshoes and poles will be provided for this winter hike. Registration and prepayment of $10 is required. Dress for the weather.

Prince Gallitzin State Park, Patton, 674-1005

Winter Fun Day, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Prince Gallitzin Marina. Activities include sledding, snowshoeing, hiking, winter bingo and demonstrations of animal furs, winter safety, ice fishing and more. Equipment for all activities will be provided on a first come, first serve basis. You may take your own sled. This event is free, but donations will be accepted for upcoming park improvement projects.

Park programs will be published on Wednesdays. State parks and recreation areas that wish to be included should email programs to community by noon the preceding Friday.
