Health, safety fair to be held Feb. 17

BELLWOOD — Bellwood Antis Public Library, Tyrone Regional Health Network/Tyrone Hospital (TRHN) and the Northern Blair County Recreation Center (NBCRC) will co-sponsor the 12th annual Family Health & Safety Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Bellwood-Antis Public Library, 526 Main St.

The event is free and open to the public.

n Community members can kick off the day running or walking in the Run for Reading 5K Race organized by NBCRC. The race begins at 8:30 a.m. and starts and ends at the library. Entry fees will benefit the library and the NNBCRC. Registration forms are available by calling 742-9500.

n Tyrone Regional Health Network will provide free health screenings for total blood cholesterol, blood glucose, pulse oximetry, grip and pinch strength screening, balance screening, diabetes-related information with a diabetes nurse specialist on-site and information regarding the broad range of services offered by TRHN in Tyrone and neighboring communities.

n DaVita, a national leader in kidney dialysis care, will provide information on kidney health and the dialysis services available on the TRHN campus.

n ENT Associates of Central PA will provide hearing screening and information about their services and their Tyrone office location.

n Lion Care Tyrone, a service of the Penn State School of Medicine, will provide free blood pressure screenings and information about the monthly Lion Care free health clinic on the Tyrone Regional Health Network campus.

n The Center for Organ Recovery and Donation (CORE) will provide information about organ donation and donor cards.

n Lasser’s Shoe Fly will provide free I-step digital foot scan screening. This screening identifies arch type, foot size, pressure points and provides information that can help with selection of orthotics and footwear to help prevent foot pain and address foot comfort. Additionally, the Lasser’s Shoe Fly exhibit will include a clothing and footwear sale, and a portion of the proceeds from the sale will benefit the library.

n Blair Alcohol and Drug Partnerships will provide information on treatment safety and substance abuse disorders.

n American Red Cross will provide information about volunteer opportunities.

n Phoenix Rehabilitation Center will provide vertigo screenings.

n Every Life Matters will provide information on pregnancy support services.

n Crystal-Gail Connec-tions will provide information and mini-demonstrations of Reconnective Healing and Reflexology.

n The Altoona Area Lyme Disease Support Group will provide information on Lyme disease and other tick-borne disease.

n Blair Senior Services will provide resource information for senior citizens.

n The Foster Grandpar-ent & Senior Companion Program will provide program information.

n Pennsylvania Game Commission will provide resources and information.

n Veterans and their families can speak with representatives from Victory Therapeutic Horseman-ship, a therapeutic service for military veterans.

n WIC representatives will provide information.

n Burgmeier’s will provide shredding of personal documents up to 25 pounds for identify protection.

n Blair County Dairy Princess Yvonne Longnecker will provide children’s activities.

n Jaffa Shriners will have clowns on-site and provide information about Shriners Hospital.

n Excelsior Volunteer Fire Company of Bellwood will have firemen and firetrucks on-site and will provide fire safety information.

n Zumba for Kids with instructor Pam McConnell will be held at noon.

n The Friends of the Library will sell refreshments to benefit the library.
