Members of Kids for Community (K4C) proudly displayed the 397 holiday cards for the military that they collected from students, faculty and staff at Mowrie A. Ebner Elementary School, Altoona, as well as other local families and friends.

The father of Hailey Cornelius is stationed in Qatar with his military unit and was not home for the holidays. The “Kids” wanted to do something to lift their spirits and let the soldiers know they are being remembered.

Founded by Kinsley Palilla, a local 8-year-old volunteer enthusiast and the 2018 USA National Miss Pennsylvania Princess, Kids for Community is a nonprofit youth service organization based in Altoona that is dedicated to helping kids discover their importance in the role of volunteerism.

Its motto is “A footprint makes an imprint, no matter what the size.”

K4C offers kids the opportunity to participate in monthly, preorganized outreaches geared directly for the community’s ‘younger’ citizens. This was their inaugural project.

Anyone interested in getting involved or having their child volunteer with the group can contact K4C at or 312-3385. You can also follow the group on Facebook to find out about upcoming endeavors.
