Tyrone library announces upcoming activities

TYRONE — The Tyrone-Snyder Public Library has announced its activities for November and December.

Festival of Christmas — The Christmas tree raffle is back with a new twist. This year will include all types of seasonal decor, including wreaths, swags, centerpieces and more. Raffle displays can be viewed between Nov. 16 and Dec. 14. Raffle tickets are $2 each and can be purchased at the library check out desk. Winners will be drawn at 3 p.m. Dec. 14. Many raffle items are hand-made.

5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday — “Essential Oils of the Bible.” This presentation by Carol Scarbro of the Allegheny Essential Oils Club will address the ancient remedies mentioned in the Bible and how their uses in essential oil form are effective today. Registration is required by messaging the library or calling 684-1133.

Nov. 28 to Dec. 22 — “The Original Christmas Treasure Nook.” New and gently used Christmas items and decorations at reasonable prices.

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 2 — Christmas Cookie Sale with Festival of Christmas Open House from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Save time and get your Christmas cookies at the annual sale. The Festival of Christmas Open House will include crafts and cookie decorating for the kids held by Grier School. Hot drinks will be available to purchase.

Dec. 12 — Joybeans Day. The library will be serving free coffee, tea and homemade cookies all day as a tribute to the late Wendy Boytim’s Joybeans coffee shop. Joybeans days are made possible by the Tyrone Women’s Club.

n Story Hour is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Monday through Dec. 11. This program is for ages 3 to 5 and includes stories, games, activities and crafts. Register at the library or by calling 684-1133. Little ones can join the group at any time.

n Babies Boogie is held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every Thursday through Dec. 14. This fun and active program is for ages 18 months to 3 years old. Babies Boogie include songs, stories, finger plays, sensory activities, free play and fun. No registration is required, and drop-ins are welcome.

n Free GED classes are held from 12:30 to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the library. Students can join the class at any time.
