On Sept. 15, NAMI PA Blair County, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, presented a $500 donation to the “Better Than Roses” Project.

The “Better Than Roses” Project was created by the volunteer efforts of the members of the H.O.P.E. Drop-In Center and the support of community agencies.

The project provides individuals who are transitioning out of an inpatient mental health setting with a care package.

The packages include helpful resource information, personal items and a handmade card. So far, the project has provided more than 100 care packages for people in the community.

This project, in alignment with the NAMI mission, seeks to remind those who are affected by mental illness that they are not alone.
