Miss Central Pa. Pageant seeks contestants for Miss, Teen pageants

LEWISTOWN — Contestant applications are being accepted for the 2018 Miss Central Pennsylvania Scholarship and Miss Central Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageants. The entry deadline for both pageants is Dec. 27.

The pageants will be held together on Jan. 13 at the Mifflin County Middle School on Manor Drive in Lewistown.

The pageants are preliminaries to the Miss Pennsylvania and Miss Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Teen Pageants, both of which will be held in June in Pittsburgh.

The winners there will advance to the Miss America Pageant and Miss America’s Outstanding Teen Pageant, respectively.

To be eligible to compete in the “Miss” pageant, young women must be unmarried and between the ages of 17 and 24 and must reside, attend school or be employed in Pennsylvania.

In addition, contestants must be at least high school seniors.

“Miss” contestants are judged in talent, interview, evening wear, on-stage question and lifestyle and fitness in swimsuit.

The only fee for entry into the pageant is that each “Miss” contestant is required to raise $100 for the Children’s Miracle Network and deposit that money into a special online account. Details are available at www.MissCentralPA


To be eligible to compete “Teen” pageant, girls must be between the ages of 12 and 17 and reside or attend school in Pennsylvania. Contestants may be no more than high school juniors. Full details on age and grade requirements should be verified by calling executive director John Metzger at


“Teen” contestants are judged in talent, interview, evening wear and on-stage question and lifestyle and fitness in active wear.

The entry fee into the Teen Pageant is $100 with discounts available for contestants also interested in also entering the Miss MidState’s Outstanding Teen Pageant.

No more than 26 contestants will be accepted for the combined pageants, with those whose application materials are received after that being placed on a waiting list.

The pageants are sponsored by the nonprofit Miss Central Penn-sylvania Scholarship Organiza-tion. Scholarships and prizes are awarded through the generosity of businesses and organizations throughout Central Pennsylvania.
