Beekeepers to meet Sunday

EBENSBURG — The Cambria-Clearfield-Blair County Beekeepers will meet at 2 p.m. Sunday at the extension office, 499 Manor Drive. This is the Christmas social. Attendees do not need to be beekeepers. ‘Paint ‘n Sip’ benefits foundation

The Brian Morden Foundation will hold a Paint ‘n Sip fundraiser at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Brookmere Wine Bar.

Painting instruction will be conducted by Tabitha Shimer, a mother of a BMF child with cancer.

The Brian Basket Christmas event will take place at the end of the fundraiser at 3 p.m., where baskets will be decorated for the hospitals and gifts prepared for local children. “Wish lists” were sent to children at Thanksgiving and will be returned by the end of November. Items from their wish lists will be given to them, as wells as Christmas cards, calendars, pens, and gold ribbon decals to the hospitals.

Fire company to hold fundraiser

GEESEYTOWN — Geeseytown Community Fire Company will hold its gingerbread house building fundraiser from 1 to 4 p.m. Dec. 3 and Dec. 10.

The cost is $15, and all supplies will be provided, as well as snacks and drinks.

Polar Bear Express at Rockhill Trolley

ROCKHILL — The Polar Bear Express will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec. 8 and 9 at the Rockhill Trolley Museum.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for children. Attendees can ride the rails on authentic antique trolleys and enjoy the decorations and lights along the tracks. Caroling, a campfire, hot chocolate and cookies are included.

Santa’s Trolley will also be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with a ride aboard a real, electric historic trolley car to the Blacklog Narrows. Each child will be personally visited by Santa and receive a small gift. Tickets are $8 for adults and children.

Junior Theatre staging ‘Elf Jr.’

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg Area Junior Theatre will present “Elf Jr., The Musical” at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School Auditorium.

Tickets can be purchased at the door and are $8 for adults and $6 for students and senior citizens.

“Elf Jr.” is based on the movie starring Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel.

The Junior Theatre performance features Jacob Stephens as Buddy the Elf, Nathan Rupp as Walter Hobbs, Kateia Priel as Emily Hobbs, Baret Monahan as Michael Hobbs, Safwaan Ahmer as Santa Claus, and Devyn Amigh as Jovie.

The performance is directed by Holly Mercer, with musical direction by Kelly Hartman.

AFSCME chapter to hold dinner

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The Hollidaysburg AFSCME Retirees Subchapter 8306 will hold its annual Christmas dinner on Dec. 6.

Please arrive by noon at the latest, as dinner will be served at 12:30 p.m.

Santa Claus to visit Quaint Corner

A Quaint Corner Children’s Museum & Discovery Center in Altoona will host a visit with Santa Claus on Saturday.

Stories and songs, refreshments and cookie decoration will also be part of the festivities.

Admission is $4 and $3 for member children.

Association hosts ‘Milk and Cookies’

The Homer’s Gap Civic Association will host “Milk and Cookies with Santa” from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Crafts, food and small gifts for the kids will also be part of the event.

“Milk and Cookies” is sponsored by Abundance of Grace Church.

Eat’N Park hosts fundraiser

Eat’N Park Restaurants will be hosting a “One Day One Dollar” fundraiser on Saturday, where customers will be encouraged to support Eat’N Park’s annual “Caring for Kids” campaign, which benefits children’s hospitals throughout Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Customers can add a $1 donation to their check, as team members are aiming to raise $10,000. Nestle Professional Vitality will match the first $5,000 in donations.

“This is the first year we’re holding a restaurant-wide ‘Caring for Kids’ fundraiser on the same day,” says Trina DeMarco, director of corporate giving and community partnerships for Eat’N Park Restaurants.

Local group to hold Christmas party

EBENSBURG — The AFSCME Sub-Chapter 8303 will hold its annual Christmas Party at Penn Gables Restaurant at noon on Dec. 7. Attendees are asked to bring a canned food donation.

Tree lighting scheduled for Dec. 8

CRESSON — The Cresson American Legion annual tree lighting ceremony will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Dec. 8.

Light refreshments will be provided, with the lighting at 6 p.m.

Santa Claus will be in attendance, with the singing of Christmas carols also scheduled.

This is a free event, and membership is not necessary to attend.
