Horseshoe Seniors to dance a week early

The Horseshoe Seniors dinner-dance will be held a week early this month.

The dance will be held Thursday at the Bavarian Hall, 112 S. 13th St., Altoona. Dinner is at 5:30 p.m., followed by three hours of dancing to a DJ.

Admission is $10 per person. Singles and couples are welcome.

This dinner-dance is usually held the third Thursday of every month. Reservations must be made by the Monday before each event.

Sewing club to meet Sept. 18

The Altoona Area Sewing Club will hold its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Sept. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 408 N. Sixth St., Juniata.

Participants will be making blue butterfly pins for the Healing Patch, a part of Home Nursing that helps children going through grief of losing a loved one.

Take a glue gun, if you have one.

Altoona BPW to meet Thursday

The Altoona Business and Professional Women (BPW) will hold its first meeting of the 2017-18 year at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Perkins Restaurant on Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona. Those present will order from the menu.

Suzanne Krider will speak on “All You Need is Cupcakes.” The program chair is Esther Wharton.

The mission of BPW is to achieve equity for all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.

Hollidaysburg class of 1950 to meet

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The class members of the Hollidaysburg High School class of 1950 holds its monthly luncheon meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in The Dream Restaurant.

Spouses are also welcome to attend.

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday.

Duncansville historical society to meet

DUNCANSVILLE — The Duncansville Area Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1200 Fourth Ave.

The society is interested in obtaining pictures or information regarding Duncansville. Those who are unable to attend the meeting can send information or pictures to Nancy DeLozier, P.O. Box 115, Duncansville, PA 16635 or call 695-1017. The society would like to make copies of the information, and it will be returned promptly.

New people are welcome to attend the meetings, which are held on the second Tuesday of every other month.
