Making Strides Against Breast Cancer kickoff set for Aug. 26

Walk will be held Oct. 8

at PNG Field in Altoona

The American Cancer Society will host a Making Strides Against Breast Cancer complimentary breakfast kickoff and informational meeting at 9 a.m. Aug. 26 at The Casino at Lakemont, Altoona, to share details about its community walk on Oct. 8 at Peoples Natural Gas Field, Altoona.

The kickoff will highlight how individuals, businesses and organizations can support the American Cancer Society’s work to help save lives from breast cancer and will feature an inspirational story from the 2017 Survivor Ambassador, Alison Bonsell.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a noncompetitive, inspirational event that raises awareness and funds to end breast cancer and provide hope to ensure no one faces breast cancer alone.

Since 1993, more than 13 million supporters have raised more than $810 million nationwide.

Last year, 1,200 walkers helped to raise more than $91,000.
