U.S. Air Force Reserve Airman Bethany P. Carolus graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio.

Carolus completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Carolus is the daughter of Tammy and Edward Carolus of Huntingdon.

The airman graduated in 2015 from Juniata Valley High School, Alexandria, and in 2016 from Allegany College of Maryland, Cumberland, Md.


Air Force Tech Sgt. Krystoffer S. Miller was selected as a competitor for Air Force Global Strike Command Global Strike Challenge 2017.

Global Strike Challenge is the world’s premier bomber, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, helicopter operations and security forces competition with units from Air Force Global Strike Command, Air Combat Com-mand, Air Force Reserve Com-mand and the Air National Guard.

Approximately 450 competitors take part in GSC competitions at various locations.

Competition categories rigorously test security forces along with missile, bomber and helicopter operational and maintenance communities.

Teams will have the opportunity to participate in events that require innovative thinking and teamwork; competencies that are central to the AFGSC mission.

Security Forces members selected for the competition compete for the Charlie Fire Team Trophy, recognizing the Best Security Force Team.

Miller is currently serving as a flight chief with 2nd Security Forces Squadron, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

He is a 2006 graduate of Holli-daysburg Area Senior High School. He earned an associate degree in 2016 from the Commun-ity College of the Air Force, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.
