Chemical-Free Living series starts today

DUNCANSVILLE — Answer Physical Therapy & Health Center, 921 Third Ave., will host a Chemical-Free Living Series from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting today.

The series will cover the following topics: Overview of Everyday Chemicals and Alternatives; Chemical-Free Home; Gut Health Boost Your Immune System and register to win a Raindrop Technique Foot Mas-sage; EFT Emotional Health and register to win a Zen Living Ionic Detoxification Foot Bath; Lucy Libido; 5 Day Nutritive Cleanse and Weight Management; and Quantum Physics and Intention: What Is Your Goal?

There is no charge to participate.

AASD sets kindergarten registration

Parents of students entering the Altoona Area School District for kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year are strongly encouraged to complete the student registration process as soon as possible.

Those who should register are:

n Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 and plan to enter kindergarten for the first time in August.

n Children who will be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1 and plan to enter first grade in August, but did not previously attend kindergarten in the Altoona Area School District.

Special extended registration hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on the following dates at the Altoona Area High School’s Career Center: July 12, 19, 25 and July 26 and Aug. 1, 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16.

Online registration is available to families who are unable to attend one of the above on-site registrations.

Simply complete the Student Enrollment Forms online before scheduling your appointment with the Student Registration Office to complete the registration.

Parents must present proof of the child’s age, proof of residencey, proof of immunizations, Photo ID and any applicable court orders.

Transportation for kindergarten children is provided by the school district.

JABA Paranormal to tour museum

JABA Paranormal is offering the chance to go on a overnight ghost hunt inside the Altoona Railroaders Memorial Museum with the JABA team from 10 p.m. Oct. 6.

The cost is $40 per person with limited spots available to give participants a true paranormal investigation experience.

All money donated goes to benefit the museum.

Grandparents, companions needed

Blair Senior Services Inc. is recruiting volunteers to join its Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion programs.

These programs offer benefits which include an hourly tax-free stipend, paid time off, paid holidays, mileage reimbursement and much more.

An informational session will be held at 1 p.m. July 20 at Blair Senior Services, 1320 12th Ave., Altoona.

Individuals age 55 years or older with an income of $2,010 a month or less for single individuals or $2,706 a month or less for a married couple, are welcome to attend.
