Spring concert set for Tuesday

AAHS senior citizen dance is Friday

The Altoona Area High School Student Council will host a senior citizen dance from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in the AAHS Fieldhouse.

Admission is free, refreshments will be served, and music will be provided by the AAHS jazz bands.

Doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Master gardeners to hold plant sale

EBENSBURG — The Cambria County Penn State Extension Master Gardeners will hold its annual plant sale from 9 to 11 a.m. May 20 in the meeting room at 499 Manor Drive.

A wide selection of perennials, annuals, bulbs, herbs and vegetable plants will be available for a modest donation. Free seeds will be given to everyone who attends.

Donations will be used to fund educational programs presented by the Cambria County Master Gardeners throughout the year.

Golf event to aid Tyrone Hospital

The Tyrone Hospital Foundation will hold its 16th annual golf tournament on June 5 at Iron Masters Country Club, 174 Cross Cove Road, Roaring Spring.

The foundation is currently seeking sponsors and golfers for the event. Sponsorship opportunities are as follows:

Outing sponsor: $2,500 (includes signage at the course and in the food tent, fees for a team of four, pre-tournament publicity and distribution of company marketing materials at the event).

Corporate sponsor: $1,500 (includes signage at the course, fees for a team of four, pre-tournament publicity and distribution of company marketing materials at the event).

Course sponsor: $750 (includes signage at the course and fee for a team of four).

Beverage cart sponsor: $500 (includes signage on the beverage cart).

Tee/green sponsor: $250 (includes tee signage).

Four-person team: $500 (includes dinner).

Golfers will have an opportunity to win a new car for a hole-in-one at a designated hole.

Commitments for Outing and Corporate sponsorship must be received by May 19 to receive all pre-tournament publicity.

Funds raised will be donated to Tyrone Hospital’s modernization and renovation project. This project will continue the improvements being made to the physical plant and acquire new equipment to support surgical services, emergency services, diagnostic imaging and other areas of the hospital in 2017-2018.

The tournament is a best ball-four man scramble with registration at 11 a.m. and a shotgun start at 1 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m.
