Glendale Drama Club to present ‘Jeckyll, Hyde’

FLINTON — The Glendale Drama Club, under the direction of Jen and Larry Putorek, will present its 11th annual musical, “Jekyll and Hyde,” at 7 p.m. March 30 and 31 and April 1 and 2 p.m. April 2 in the high school auditorium.

“Jekyll and Hyde” is a Victorian Era musical, adapted from the novella of the same name.

When asked about the show, the directors stated, “We chose the show this year because we wanted to showcase the vocal abilities of our students, giving them a chance to grow as musicians and actors/actresses.”

While this year’s show does have a darker theme, and when presented as is, is rated PG-13, the Putoreks shared that they took steps to make the show more family-friendly, while also keeping the performers’ ages in mind:

n There will be no blood or gore shown on stage.

n They have toned down any sexual content.

n They have limited the use of offensive language.

n While there are deaths in this show, they are handled sensitively when shown on stage.

Tickets are available by calling 687-5035 or emailing lputorek@gsd1.org or jputorek@gsd1.org. Tickets also will be available at the door each night of the show. The price is $8 for adults, $5 for students and free for children ages 5 and younger.
