Matches for MS raises $7,985

Courtesy photos More than 80 players from several counties across the state participated in the third annual Matches for MS Awareness Charity Tennis Tournament in Hollidaysburg.

HOLLIDAYSBURG — The third annual Matches for MS Awareness Charity Tennis Tournament took place on July 8, 9 and 10 at the Tiger Tennis Center.

The tournament brought together more than 80 players from several counties across the state. Participants ranged in age from competitors in the 8-and-younger category to adults.

The tournament raised and donated a total of $7,985.89 this year and more than $18,000 over the past three years.

The tournament was organized by Emre Cardakli, a recent graduate of Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School. Cardakli organized this event to benefit the National MS Society in memory of his cousin, who developed multiple sclerosis at a young age and later passed away from complications associated with the disease.
