Veterans recognized at Graystone

The second annual veterans recognition and memorial services were held on May 26 at the Graystone Villa in Altoona.

Approximately 30 veterans reside at Graystone. Al Ansman called their names and the branch of service for each veteran.

Also recognized were the widows of the veterans.

Lt. Col. Sam Dunkle was the principle speaker. He is on staff at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home.

Also present was Marine Sgt. Rey-Mo Sneath, a canine veteran of the Middle East. He was trained to sniff out bombs.

The committee that presented the program included Frank Benfatta, Ron Ecker, Al Ansman and Ron Branningam.

A moment of silence was observed for departed comrades: Paul Weidlich, Ken Faith, George Knott and Ernie Eakin.
